| East Debates With West
A review of a recently published book, "Understanding Cross-Cultural Psychology: Eastern and Western Perspectives by Pittu D. Laungani (London: Sage, 2007), written by Robert Brown has been published in the October 2007 (Vol 20, No. 10) of the Psychologist. The book contrasts dominant ideas from Eastern and Western psychology, and reviews important cross-cultural differences in various domains of life.

Robert Brown's article, "The Chindia Globalisation Shock" is published in the Autumn 2007 issue of the Expatriate Observer, a quarterly magazine for International Human Resources Professionals. This is the first of a two-part series, which focuses on the influence of globalisation on labour mobility. Robert Brown is the opening speaker at the Worldwide ERC's Global Workforce Summit, with special focus on Europe, Middle East and Africa, in London on 13 June 2007. Expatica offers web-based specialised advice on international Human Resources and Management issues to an audience of over 575,000 people in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. |
| Collaboration with Swedish NGO, National Council of Swedish Youth Organisations (LSU), & Folk och Försvar
Robert Brown gave a keynote presentation on Inclusive Leadership, Language and Labels at the "Including Diversity: Youth Perspectives on Security, Peace and Democracy" conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 26 May 2007. This conference was sponsored The National Council of Swedish Youth Organisations (LSU), which is the umbrella organisation of Swedish youth-led NGO's, and by Folk och Försvar, Using democratic principles, LSU's aim is to strengthen youth-led NGO's in Sweden and worldwide. |
| THEATRE meeting BUSINESS
Christoph Baumann has been asked by the German-Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce and Colegio Aleman in Quito, Ecuador to write and perform a short play that depicts the German-Ecuadorian intercultural relationship through the experiences of a German-Ecuadorian married couple. Christoph has many years experience working as a writer, actor and theatre director in Germany and Latin America, and has worked with multiple government agencies and global companies across the region. His use of theatre for cross-cultural communication is an engaging and powerful tool in building mutual understanding and commitment.

New Article - Importance of Trust
People Management, a publication of the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, in its 22 February 2007 issue, published an article on the work of a Business Leaders' Consortium on "Trust and Leadership." The Consortium, led by Pam Hurley and Hanneke Frese of the Tosca Consulting Group, included participants from organisations such as Manpower, Cisco Systems, British Telecom, Unilever and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The speakers who worked with the group included David Ulrich of the University of Michigan, Cathy O'Dowd, the mountaineer, and Banu Golesorkhi of Pharos International. Read Article

Just Published - "All Around the World"
A review by Robert Brown of the book entitled "Peer Relationships in Cultural Context" is published in February 2007 (Volume 20, No. 2, p. 98) issue of the Psychologist, the montly publication of the British Psychological Society. This book was edited by Xinyin Chen, Doran French and Barry Schneider, and published by the Cambridge University Press in 2006.

An article written by Robert Brown entitled " Dominant Stressors on Expatriate Couples During International Assignments" has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Human Resources Management during 2007. The date and volume of publication to be notified.
